About Vegan Intersection

Writing and art for everyday non-violence.

This is a space built at the meeting point of food, ethics, health, and justice — where the small choices we make every day connect to something much larger.

Mary Clifford Brewer

MSN · MBA · RDN · RN · VLCE

Mary has been vegan for more than forty years — long before "plant-based" was a section in the grocery store. What began as a personal choice grew, over four decades, into a career built around the same idea: that health, compassion, and justice are not separate conversations.

She has spent her professional life working as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Registered Nurse, bringing clinical experience in nutrition together with hands-on nursing care. She is also a graduate of the Main Street Vegan Academy, where she trained as a Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator (VLCE).

"I've been passionate about helping people understand the connections between nutrition, health, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and the choices we make every day."

Mary lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains with her husband, Lawrence, also a committed vegan, and the rescue animals who share their home. Her ongoing focus remains health, wellness, and social justice — and how our everyday choices at the table ripple outward into the wider world.

What guides this work

Five threads, one belief

Every piece of writing and art here returns to the same idea: our everyday choices connect to something bigger. These are the threads that run through it all.

01

Health

Grounded in clinical nutrition and real, lived experience with plant-based practice.

02

Animals

Welfare and advocacy approached with compassion, not judgment.

03

Environment

Honest about the footprint of what ends up on our plates.

04

Justice

Attentive to access, labor, and who gets to choose freely.

05

Culture

Curious about tradition, identity, and the stories we tell at the table.
